Imagine getting married at a fairytale venue — Tutbury Castle is the perfect setting for picturesque views to provide wonderful photos.
Marriage ceremonies take place in our spectacular Great Hall a wonderful 11th Century Castle where King Charles 1st stayed in the Civil War. The Great Hall is perfect for a small intimate wedding accommodating up to 38 guests for a wedding banquet or 45 for a buffet style.
We’ve had people marrying in full suits of armour, elegant Georgian costumes and being serenaded by pipers and harpists. We believe people should be able to have the most romantic wedding they can imagine.
This beautiful royal Castle could then be the venue for your civil ceremony. The ceremony would take place in our Great Hall conducted by the area Registrar.
Hand Fast Ceremonies
For the adventurous you can then proceed to the open air for a romantic medieval hand fasting ceremony — which includes jumping the broomstick to symbolise the sweeping away of your old lives and onto a new life together. The hand fasting can be booked independently, following marriage elsewhere or for renewal of vows.
This beautiful ceremony is not recognised legally but is a great way to celebrate moving in together — or the fact that it has lasted so long! You can take the broomstick home together with happy memories of a fantastic fairytale with or without the reception — both are possible.
Anniversaries
What better way to celebrate than with family and friends at our fantastic 11th century Castle? Sit down for a candlelit meal in our Great Hall surrounding by Tudor and Stuart furniture and artefacts or in our cosy Tea room.
Celebrations
Whatever the celebration — Tutbury Castle is a perfect venue.
